Gina is a wife, mother, community advocate, volunteer and Director of Girls in the Know. Gina’s passion for empowering girls has been a personal journey of healing that began with motherhood. Her journey with Girls in the Know began as a participant in the 4 week speaker series in 2009, when her oldest daughter, Lauren, was 10. She quickly fell in love with its mission and began volunteering. Gina knows first hand how challenging it is raising girls in today’s culture. Faith and family values are constantly being challenged by peer pressures in our society. Gina’s personal connection to GITK makes her work meaningful on many levels!
As a faith-filled woman she was also volunteering with and developing parenting workshops to help parents talk openly and honestly about sex. In addition, Gina is a speaker and panel participant for the Mercy Mother-Daughter Tea, a Right Start Educator, ENDOW facilitator, PSR Catechist and she and husband Dave serve as Kirkwood Coordinators for World Wide Marriage Encounter. In 2010 she became an author and wrote the “Heart to Heart Mother-Daughter Journal” and in 2011, Gina was invited to be the keynote speaker for GITK’s annual event, Passport to Power. Shortly after that she began assisting the Founder and Director, Lori Lander, with programs. In August, 2012 Gina was invited to take a leadership role as the Director.
Gina’s passion for collaborating and marketing stems from her early career in sales with Xerox, MetPath Laboratories and pharmaceutical sales. Gina graduated with a BS in Marketing from Southwest Missouri State and worked in sales until the birth of her first daughter Lauren in 1998. Her second daughter, Olivia, was born in 2000 and her favorite son, Jake, in 2003. Always striving to stay connected with her kids, her journey with Girls in the Know has been both healing and empowering. There is no secret answer, it’s hard work but there is no doubt programs like GITK laid a strong foundation for the journey through the teen years. Her family attends church at St. Peter Parish in Kirkwood, MO. In her free time Gina enjoys hanging out at home, reading parenting books, jogging, tennis, baking and taking walks through the streets of Kirkwood.
